Although many uphold Isaiah 58 as a standard of fasting, Jesus has superseded the fast (for us) and made it a dead letter (for us) among the works of the Law that attempts salvation. We cannot add or improve to what The Good Shepherd has already secured for us via the finished work of the cross. So rest easy without apology and say good bye to Lent for ‘the just shall live by his faith.’ ~ L.J
